All Congregation Retreat
Relax, Release, & Recreate…
As we build community and begin a new chapter together
September 20-22, 2013
Friday-Arrive after 5 PM
Sunday- Return for worship at 11 AM
At YMCA Camp Potawotami, retreat participants can take a hike, use playground or sport equipment, or just enjoy the view of quiet Blackman Lake. Some may want to shoot hoops on the basketball court or relax by reading a book outdoors. In the evening we will sing and share around a campfire, or maybe take a walk under the stars.
Our weekend will give us a chance to build community in different way as we relax, release, and recreate in a setting that will not invite talk about fundraisers, budgets, or committee work. It will be a beginning of our new chapter together. In many cases our organized activities will include our entire congregation, even our children. When that is not practical, activities will be provided that are designed to help the kids build their own community.
YMCA Camp Potawotami offers comfortable lodging and excellent food. All participants will stay in the Sharples Center where sleeping is dormitory style, the great room has a fireplace, and the kitchen is always open. The camp will provide healthy, home-cooked meals served family-style in the beautiful vintage Arrowhead Lodge. The professional food service staff has an outstanding reputation and may be able to accommodate special dietary needs upon request.
If you prefer to pitch your own tent, there is a lovely space very near the Sharples Center. No water, no electricity, no fires allowed. Campers could be parked in the lot, but there will be no electricity or water hookups available.
